Miss Monk and Miss Johnston got the whole school thinking scientifically yesterday as they launched a whole school science investigation.

We discussed what happens when we don’t wash our hands well, and looked at how bacteria can spread very easily. We also watched a video to show how food can become very yucky and mouldy as bacteria spreads.

After the assembly, the children in each class then very carefully placed their hand on two slices of bread (one before washing their hands and one after washing their hands) to see if this effects how quickly the bread becomes mouldy. We also left one slice of bread untouched as a ‘control’ in our experiment.

We will let you know the results in a couple of weeks time!
