Many thanks to Cheryl and Peter Rolt from Walberton Place Care Home who visited school today to talk to Year 6 about being a ‘Dementia Friend’. Details here.

Cheryl and Peter Rolt spoke to Violet Class today about how they can be ‘Dementia Friends’. They spoke to the children about what dementia is, and how it can effect people. They also informed the children about how they can help people with dementia, using five key points:

 – Dementia is not a natural part of aging.

 – Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain.

 – Dementia is not just about losing memory.

 – You can live well with dementia.

 – There’s more to the person than dementia.

Thankyou so much from both of us for the opportunity to deliver the Dementia Friends message to Year 6. We were amazed at the knowledge the class already had about the condition. They are now the latest recruits in a social movement of over 2 and a half million people:)
