Year 5 welcomed a fire service visitor, Graham, on Tuesday this week. Graham explained about different fires and what to do. Children asked some fantastic questions – some never asked before! The ‘STOP, DROP AND ROLL’ procedure was discussed if anyone was to accidently catch fire. Unplugging things that are not in use and try not to charge phones overnight was more sensible advice offered by Graham!
Graham also advised families to ‘Test It Tuesday’ check that all fire alarms in the house actually work, at least once a week! Families should also discuss a fire plan which some of the children believed they might already have in place.
Importantly he advised children about hoax calling and that this is a criminal offence from the age 10! He did explain that generally his Fire Station did not receive many of this.
Mrs Ifould became a fighter – even if it was only for a few minutes – a possible new career in the future…?
Thank you Graham for your fun, informative visit.
